Can’t upload scribes to Facebook

Last updated: 28 June 2018

You can connect VideoScribe to your Facebook profile to allow you to publish videos directly to your profile. This instant answer takes you through how to set this up and some suggestions should you experience any issues.

In order to upload to Facebook, you need to approve VideoScribe as a Facebook application. Once the application has been accepted, you will be able to upload videos. To do this you need to follow these steps:

Step 1. Select publish (A) from the top menu bar within VideoScribe.

Step 2. Select the Facebook icon (B) from the publish options.

Step 3. VideoScribe will create your video and you will see the progress it is making (C).

Step 4. Once created you can name your video (A), add a description (B) and click the tick to continue (C).

Step 5. Log into the Facebook account you wish to upload the video to.

Step 6. Your Facebook profile will begin to load. After a few moments the screen below should automatically move onto Step 7. If it does not click in the Find Friends bar (A) to prompt the next step.

Step 7. This is the confirmation that you are giving VideoScribe access to your profile and permission to upload videos to your wall. You can see more info (A), review the settings (B) and if you are happy click Continue (C)

If you are at all unsure about this we recommend that you refer to Facebook help to understand this further before proceeding. You will not be able to upload videos directly from VideoScribe however until you have completed this step. Customers with a subscription are able to publish your video locally on your computer and then upload this to your profile manually.

Step 8. You can now decide the privacy settings for the videos you post via VideoScribe. Select the option you would like (A) and click OK (B).

Step 9. VideoScribe will now upload your video

Step 10. You will get a confirmation message to confirm your video has been sent to your wall.

Step 11. You can check your Facebook wall or news feed and the video will show (A).

Please note: VideoScribe can only upload to your Facebook profile. You cannot upload from VideoScribe to pages, groups or events. If you wish to put a VideoScribe video onto a page, group or event then you would need to do one of the following:

  • Do not use the Facebook publish option in VideoScribe. Instead publish your video locally on your computer and then you can upload this to your page, group or event manually.

  • Publish to your personal profile then use the share function (A) within Facebook to add it to your page, group or event (B).

Still having problems?

There is a limit to the size of video you can upload directly to Facebook from an external application. Instead publish your video locally on your computer and then you can upload this to your profile manually.

You can check your Facebook App Settings page to ensure VideoScribe it listed. To do this log into Facebook and drop down the extra options using the down arrow (A) and select settings from this list (B).

You can then select Apps from the left hand menu (A) and if VideoScribe has permissions to upload videos to your profile it will show in the ‘Logged in with Facebook’ section (B). If VideoScribe does not show here please return to the top of this answer and start again.
